History of the Admin
The guest books at the Adminiet are a walk in history. Delegations and business associates from all over the world have new tasty dinners in the old and venerable dining room in Admini. King Olav V was here twice. Nikita Kruchov was here. In modern times, a number of prominent business leaders and politicians from home and abroad have visited the house. We hope that the Adminiet will in the future also be an inspiration for good conversations for further growth in business in Grenland, Telemark and the rest of the country. Berglund was once a small farm of 50 acres, with a few animals and 100 hens. In the period 1916-1917, Hydro bought the farm, plus the other farms on Herøya, with a view to possible construction of factory facilities on Herøya. It was not until 1929 that it was decided that Hydro should add its plant to Herøya. Farther south in this area, space was set aside, about 50 goals to scroll. director's residence and later also representation house for Norsk Hydro. The director's residence, now called the "villa", was the first building erected on the property. The house was built in 1931-32, as the residence of the then director, Tormod Gjestland. Admini was started in 1938 and was inaugurated on April 9, 1940. Architect Olaf Lilloe designed both houses, which were built in the so-called "manor style". It was the finest of materials used. Builder Aksel Hagen, who was responsible for the construction of Admini, traveled around Telemark and picked the timber to be used. The floor of the hall in the "Villa" was originally deck, on an old sailboat. Over the years, Admini, Villa and Casino have undergone a number of facelifts. Now last beyond the 90's and up to our time. The plant now appears new and completely renovated, while maintaining the old atmosphere and nobility. But they never got the dessert On April 9, 1940, the representative residence Admini was finally finished and Hydro's management and invited guests were to take the inauguration dinner. When the dedication party was added and planned for April 9, 1940, they had little idea that this day would go into history for completely different reasons than Hydro's management intended. The guests started at dinner, but never got as far as the dessert - the story tells. "
